Sylvi is a secondary character and the sister of Cotter. She a member of the free folk and extremely pale, with cyan eyes, pale skin, and snow-white hair.

Character

Sylvi puts on a tough front when taunting her foes, but her facial expressions and stammering voice suggest she is afraid or nervous. However, she appears to be smarter or at least more knowledgeable than her brother. Being albino, she came into being scorned at age two as a bad omen based on superstitious prejudice.

Sylvi first appears after Gared inspects a tent at an abandoned wildling hunting camp. She threatens to gut him like a fish with her spear, while Gared says he and his friends are just passing through or that Cotter is hurt. If Finn came with Gared and Cotter he draws his sword and orders Sylvi to step back or he will attack. Cotter pleads with Gared, telling him to stop and Sylvi is shocked by the sound of his voice. Cotter catches up to his allies and hugs Sylvi, introducing her as his sister and saying that she can take them to the North Grove.

A Nest of Vipers

Sylvi first appears arguing with Gared about going to the north grove, claiming that he will likely not come back. She is reluctant on going further North and says that they should go south to Mance Rayder. After the dispute, she is out hunting Rabbits with Gared. Gared must shoot the two rabbits. After, Sylvi talks to Gared about who they've lost. Sylvi says that she and Cotter lost everything.

Cotter yells for help and Gared and Sylvi run to them only to find Wights attacking them. Sylvi tells Gared that only fire can stop them. When they are finished with the Wights, Gared says they make for the North Grove and that they need to stick together. They all agree and run off.

Relationships

Cotter

Sylvi is Cotter's younger sister. The two of them, as seen in Sons of Winter, have a caring relationship based on their heartfelt reunion. In The Lost Lords, Cotter can mention his sister to Gared and Finn during Frostfinger's speech, and when Finn makes a comment on it, Cotter gets defensive at him showing he cares for Sylvi.
